Exploring cover art for a paperback reprint of a classic work of Japanese homoerotic poetry, I came across the photographs of Yato Tamotsu, actor and photographer of stout, square-jawed Japanese masculinity. A couple of books of photographs were published in the late 60s and 70s but have been long out of print.
